How does Discover People work?

Discovering People is at the heart of what Resonate does for you!
Our proprietary MusicMatch algorithm looks at your music and music genres and compares you to other Resonate users in order to assign a MusicMatch level of High, Mid or Low.
The music and music genres we use for you are set in your MusicMatch Preferences, which can be accessed in your Profile under Edit Profile.
By default we use the Genre Preferences you set up during onboarding (or the Genre Preferences as have been updated by you later in your Profile under Edit Profile) to calculate your MusicMatch score under our algorithm.  If desired, instead of our algorithm using your Genre Preferences, it can use your iTunes music library (if linked).  To make this change, just go to MusicMatch Preferences in your Profile under Edit Profile.
It is possible to change this selection back and forth if desired to see how this might affect the users we serve up to you in Discover People.
In the list of users presented under your Discover People, users are listed by proximity to you (if you have allowed Location Services) from closest to furthest away, within each MusicMatch category (High, Mid & Low).
We will be working hard to improve our MusicMatch algorithm over time and may introduce more MusicMatch levels and more ways that we can refine our knowledge of your music and genre preferences in order to better align the people we show you.
